Fox Rental Mexico

Long Slow Distance

endurance: the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort of activity (Merriam Webster)

Did a 19 run in two sections. The first one was about 6 miles and the second one about 13 miles. We ran  from RW to my house and then Mormon Trek. We ran back the same route to RW and then we did the East Route. Ran with some pretty (tough) ladies. I cannot believe they have this endurance!  I am glad I did this long run.  I'd love to build my endurance. The first leg was run at a slow happy comfortable pace (9:15 MM). The second leg was faster pace because of the running group.
I think being able to run 10 miles on a Sunday is perfectly fine. But, wouldn't it be nice if I could say the same thing about 16 miles or twenty miles?

Warm Iowa Days

It's only July 19 today nd the temperatures are going up. We did not cancel our interval workout on Wednesday evening. Surprisingly, new people showed up and they did not look like new runners. I think there was a 2:45, a 3:00, a 3:15, a 3:30 and a 3:34 group. The hot weather was bearable, but standing under the sun was dehydrating, to say the least. Surprisingly, our times did not go down too much.

Long Distance Sunday run

Got up early enough to prepare myself some toast with butter and marmalade before heading out to runningWILD. I was the first person to arrive to the store where other runners would show up in a few minutes. I was glad to see Jenn after running ten miles with her just yesterday. She said she wanted to log fourteen miles today. We stopped to drink water after two miles. Next stop was after four miles and then, we just ran three more miles before turning 180 degrees. I know the South Route very well after having ran it many times. I know well where the water stops are and where we need to turn around. I ran the second half a little bit faster. I am always impressed with the endurance of my fellow runners. Training the mind to do these long runs is so important. Knowing how long we will run and what it takes, makes it easier.
