Tuesday Morning Track

Drove to the track this morning (was riding the bicycle when I got a call from Sophia asking to take her to school). Decided to do some 400's. First two laps were easy. Took a 2 min rest between intervals. I had to escape the rain. Not sure if we'll have rain this evening.

Eliud Kipchoge

Today, the best marathoner in the world is most probably Eliud Kipchoge. He tried breaking the 2:00:00 time last September (2018), and there is a new project to try to do it again. Recently, he won the 2019 London Marathon. He has also the world record in Berlin (2:01:39).

Total Running Productions has uploaded four Episodes where they talk about Eliud.

Thursday May 23 2019

Met with Rocio and Dane at TrueBlood and ran a couple of laps. We ran at a conversational pace. They were running behind me, but it was good. My leg behaved pretty good, so I was happy. I felt I could run longer at that comfortable pace.

In the afternoon, I went along side of Andres for nine miles. I was riding the bicycle. He is following the training program very closely.

Wednesday TrueBlood

Met with Rocio this morning at TrueBlood. We started walking and then started running when we were by this bench. Unfortunately, I screwed up with my Garmin and I did not record properly how much we ran today. We ran slowly and my leg did not hurt. I'm happy for that. We did some different types of exercises when we finished running.

Tuesday May 21 2019

Went running on the track this morning. Warmed up first walking and running a couple of laps. Ran with Rocio. This is the second time we meet at the track. There was another lady running and doing some intervals there. Maybe she is a FB friend. I am happy with the chronos this morning. Leg still hurts, but pain is bearable.

Monday May 20 2019

My leg still hurts, but it is getting better. I feel like I am ready to go out on the roads, but I am trying to be careful, so I prefer to run on the track. Did a couple of 400 warm-ups and then added a little bit of speed, finished with an easy-800.

Rode my bicycle this morning. Roads were very wet because of the rain we've had these days. Clear Creek was really high and gate was closed by the shelter on Camp Cardinal. Ran into Karen and Sophia and rode my bike back with them.
Hit the track in the afternoon with Andres. Did a few 400m intervals. My leg is still in pain, but getting better. Did not want to push it too much. Hopefully, it will keep getting better. 400s were between 1:37 and 2:30 min.  Hopefully, I can keep doing 400s in less than 2 min for now.

Run or not to run

My leg still hurts when I try to run. I was able to do a couple of 100m and one 400m runs yesterday. The pain feels on the high part of the leg/femur. Strange. I am tired of always having some type of pain on my legs/feet. Today, I feel a lot better, but I am afraid to try to run and realize the pain is still there.
The 5K at Kinze was cancelled because of the weather. I'm glad that happened because my legs are not ready yet.

Track Day

Rode my bicycle to the track this morning and met Rocio. We walked for a while around the track and then did 100m run/100m walk intervals. My leg was hurting at the beginning, but pain was bearable after warming up. We did about 14 intervals in 20-30 sec per 100m. That's a good come back. I hope I can do the same tomorrow. Less than 30 sec per 100m looks good to me.

Sophia's 4X50m race

The Borlaug school competed in several events yesterday. Sophia was able to run in the 4X50m heat. She was the fourth runners and she did awesome. I am so proud of her. It was a long day at City High.  Weather changed from cold to warm.

Dinner with Sophia

I felt lucky to have Sophia for a couple of hours on Saturday. We played checkers and jenga. Then, I cooked some meatloaf with rice and avocado, and a flour tortilla. We also ate a cucumber and orange juice. Tried to eat as healthy as we could.

I also asked her to get me a picture of Assen. He went to prom last night. He told me he did not have a date, but he went with some friends.

Fixed my bicycle!

Last week I had problems when riding my bike. The chain kept falling off!  I wasn't sure why it was doing that.  I believed that the wheel was just really dirty, so I tried to clean it.
Had to remove the wheel and disassemble a few parts. Found out I needed some special tools. They were easy to order them in Amazon dot com. Tools arrived right away, and then found out I needed another tool. Thankfully, I was able to find it at Scheels. Then, it took me a few "trial and error" attempts to get it right. I also got a bearing ball it was missing. Since it was raining and I couldn't use the bike, I decided to disassemble the wheel again and put the missing bearing ball. Now, the job is finished and the bike is ready to go!
